The vibrant landscapes of Miguel Torres are full of light and colour which call to mind the heat of the Mediterranean and create a vivid representation of the artist’s homeland. Born in Madrid in 1948, he was awarded a coveted place to study art at the famous and prestigious Bellas Artes of San George in Barcelona. Now based back in Madrid, he has become a well-established name on the Spanish contemporary scene, and his work is beginning to make an impact in Europe.

In Barcelona Miguel absorbed the influences of some of the country’s most revered teachers and resident artists, and spent much of his time in the Miro Museum, or walking the city streets immersing himself in a world of art and culture.

After completing his studies he travelled around his homeland for several years, working with other artists and painting landscapes as varied as the country itself.

Miguel paints en plein air (outdoors on location) in oils on canvas.
