Innovative and panoramic European cityscapes

David Escarabajal finds his inspiration on the city streets of Europe, exploring broad panoramic scenes and intriguing corner views from a uniquely recognisable perspective.

He has travelled extensively and his favourite locations include London, Edinburgh, Paris and Milan. Although he chooses familiar scenes as his subject, his expansive imagination weaves complex elements and abstractions into each one, giving them an additional layer of interest, alongside immense character and charm.

Despite painting in oils, David has a fluid style and a muted palette which make the works appear almost like watercolours. His loose, spontaneous style has been described as 'sketching in paint'. Yet each painting has skilfully placed highlights of colour and light which demonstrated his masterly grasp of tonal subtlety; he says he wishes to achieve "a perfect alignment of colour".

David was born in Alcoy in Alicante in 1974. He first studied Interior Design and then obtained a degree in Fine Art at the School of Fine Arts in Alcoy. In 1995 David had his first solo exhibition and began to promote and sell his inspirational cityscapes seriously. He showed his work in Spanish cities from Barcelona to Seville, and was rewarded with numerous national awards and success in some prestigious competitions.
